Arabic Language Teachers Training

Aldeen believes that the strongest influence on the quality of Arabic foreign language teaching is the quality of the teachers, as well as the professional development of those teachers, which offers great potential for both the teacher and their students. Aldeen provides numerous workshops to enhance and equip Arabic language teachers in California with language methodology. Aldeen gives Arabic teachers the opportunity for professional growth as a language teacher through special meetings, conferences, and in-house services. Providing yearly scholarship for teachers. Aldeen also places strong emphasis on qualified teachers who have the understanding and application of standards for foreign language learning in the 21st century. In 2005, Aldeen hosted a member of the Task Force Committee charged with drafting the Standards of Arabic as a Foreign Language for the 21st century for K-12, under ACTFL in collaboration with the National Capital Resource Center. The translation of the standard to the Arabic language was sponsored by a team from the Aldeen Foundation qualified Arabic teachers.

Aldeen believes that an important step towards becoming a growing professional is active participation in organizations that support and unite teachers. Since 2004, Aldeen annually sponsors three to four teachers to attend and present at conferences such as ACTFL, National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages (NCOLCTL), Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL), California Language Teaching Conference (CLTA), Southwest Conference on Language Teaching (SWCOLT), ISNA, and NACTFL.

Aldeen's Startalk 2008 teacher training proposal provides both pedagogy and supervised practicum, with in-depth discussion and analysis of the classroom experience after every session.
